The first officially recognised and publicly funded Waldorf school in Spain. For more than 25 years, we have supported children through screen-free education in touch with nature.
We do not teach for exams. We educate for life. Waldorf education trusts the natural rhythm of every child.
Without rushing, comparisons or grades in primary school. Every child is unique, and learning should respect their stage of life.
Art, music, movement and theatre are not extras: they are learning tools. Creativity is at the heart of everything we do.
Gran Canaria is our outdoor classroom. Children learn with their hands, their feet on the earth and their eyes open to the real world.
Childhood needs real sensory experiences. We protect the space for free imagination before screens take it over.
In 1999, a group of families with a clear vision founded La Casa del Sol in Visvique, Arucas: the first Waldorf centre in the Canary Islands, run as a non-profit association of parents and teachers.
More than two decades later, that is still who we are: a community that decides together, cares for one another and puts the child at the centre of every decision.
This community is also sustained by the administration, maintenance, cleaning and daily management team: people who not only make the centre work, but share its philosophy, care for its spaces and form a living part of the heart of La Casa del Sol.
In 1999 we gained official recognition as an educational centre, becoming the first officially recognised and publicly funded Waldorf school in Spain. Our pupils earn qualifications with full official validity.
La Casa del Sol currently has five Primary teachers and three Early Years teachers: eight people for whom teaching is not a profession, but a vocation that permeates every moment of their lives.
Nuestros maestros y maestras son el corazón del proyecto. Su compromiso con cada niño va más allá del aula: se forman continuamente y participan activamente en la vida de la comunidad educativa.
